Digital, Interactive, and Web Design are interchangeable terms for Communication Design Post-Internet. Unfortunately, these terms are often used with no sense of history or origin, yet they’re immigrants who’ve chosen to start fresh in a Connected World.
Digital, like architecture or filmmaking, brings together various disciplines to produce work. What makes Digital different is that there’s no formal baseline of knowledge for this varied group, especially around Design Literacy. Outside of academia, Design Literacy in relationship to art, cultural, and social movements, is rarely discussed.
As we grew from a studio of designers into a multi-disciplinary company, it became clear that not everyone was speaking the same language. As a result, we put together this internal presentation that covers the field of Communication Design from Pre to Post-Internet.
